The mother of a baby boy abused by career criminal Jamie Marshall said “you better hang yourself up in that jail” as he was caged for just four years..Marshall had admitted to filming himself committing disturbing sexual acts on an infant and sharing the videos on social media platform Kik.
During the case at Limerick Circuit Criminal Court, Judge Tom O’Donnell lifted reporting restrictions to reveal Marshall’s identity, a native of Limerick City.
Known for his extensive criminal record particularly for car theft and joyriding Marshall had accumulated 133 previous convictions.
He pleaded guilty to a series of charges, including the possession, creation, and distribution of child pornography, as well as the sexual abuse of a child and using technological means to facilitate exploitation, with offenses committed on or before December 30, 2020.
The court ordered that details of Marshall’s residence, where his parents continue to live, remain confidential.
The judge sentenced him to six years in prison, suspending two of those years, but stressed the necessity of immediate detention.
The judge described Marshall’s conduct as “appalling, vile, egregious, and despicable,” emphasizing the severity of the crime involving an infant.
After sentencing, the boy’s mother approached Marshall in the courtroom, telling him, “You better hang yourself up in that jail.
You are a dirty, ugly, smelly, horrible scumbag.” Marshall did not respond but agreed to keep the peace and refrain from reoffending for two years after release.
It was revealed that Marshall had recorded himself abusing the child and uploaded the videos to Kik under the pseudonym “Honda22Civic.” These videos were reported to authorities by the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children, leading Gardaí to identify and locate Marshall in January 2021, based on distinctive tattoos visible in the footage.
Marshall posted fifteen videos and two images involving the boy, along with additional content of underage girls provided by an unnamed third party.
The court noted Gardaí’s observation that Marshall could be identified by his unique tattoos.
The boy’s mother rightfully criticised the leniency of the sentence, describing it as “an absolute joke,” and expressed her hope that the authorities would appeal for a more severe punishment.
She wished for a sentence closer to ten years, as she remains deeply troubled.
She also shared that her son is now thriving under the support of his family.
