'INCREDIBLY VOLATILE AND DANGEROUS' RAPIST SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS IN JAIL
A man named James Wilson, aged 22 and residing on Honeypot Lane in Darlington, has been sentenced to 14 years in jail for multiple severe crimes including rape and sexual assault.Wilson was described as 'an incredibly volatile and dangerous' offender who physically and mentally abused a woman, often punching and kicking her while under the influence of drugs.
During one attack, he intentionally wore pyramid rings to cause maximum injury.
His assaults escalated to include the use of a baseball bat, resulting in the woman sustaining a fractured foot and severe swelling to her shin and knee.
Despite the injuries, the woman displayed bravery and managed to report the incidents.
Wilson threatened her with a gun, warning her not to contact the police, and continued his abuse by posting intimate pictures online and making further threats to harm her.
Wilson was arrested in January last year and charged with several offences, including rape, causing grievous bodily harm with intent, controlling or coercive behaviour, harassment, and disclosing private sexual images with intent to cause distress.
He denied these charges but was found guilty of all in court.
In court, the victim shared a statement describing the profound impact of Wilson's abuse on her mental health, including anxiety, depression, nightmares, and flashbacks.
She expressed her fear and emotional scars, emphasizing that Wilson had shown no remorse post-conviction.
Officers from Darlington Safeguarding Team highlighted her strength and said Wilson's actions made him dangerous to others, and they are pleased he is now incarcerated to prevent further harm.
The case serves as a warning to those suffering domestic abuse or sexual violence, encouraging victims to seek help and contact authorities.
