MAN JAILED FOR SEX OFFENCES
A man has been sentenced to prison for a series of sexual offences including public decency violations on a bus traveling from Warrington to Widnes.James Taylor, aged 24, from Penny Lane in Liverpool, appeared before Liverpool Crown Court on 15 May to receive his sentence after admitting to three counts of outraging public decency, two counts of engaging in sexual acts in front of a minor, three counts of possessing indecent images of children, and one count of possessing indecent images.
He was sentenced to a term of 27 months behind bars.
The police investigation began after receiving reports that a man had been seen masturbating openly in front of two teenage boys in Widnes on 8 May 2024.
Witnesses observed the suspect disembark from bus number 110, and authorities identified him through CCTV footage, although initially unable to confirm his identity.
A public appeal was issued via media and social platforms, requesting help to identify the suspect.
Taylor responded to his own CCTV appeal, claiming he hadn't noticed anyone behaving suspiciously on the bus, which he regularly traveled on.
Taylor’s identification was secured when authorities recognised a partial logo on his work fleece, which led to his arrest on 29 May 2025.
During processing, police seized his phones, discovering he had been recording himself engaging in public masturbation and sharing messages with an unidentified man, describing his actions as ‘risky w**ks’.
He admitted to being caught multiple times, including by children, and expressed concern about potential trouble.
Investigations revealed numerous videos of him masturbating in various public locations and at his workplace in Warrington.
Three of these videos were taken on buses two on 17 April 2019, one on 14 June 2019, and another on 28 June 2019.
Additionally, police found an indecent image of a child and arrested him again on 18 December 2024 for that possession.
Further devices seized included two mobile phones, a laptop, and memory cards.
An inspection recovered 36 indecent images dated from 17 February 2019 to 19 December 2024, categorised as four in Category A, eleven in Category B, and twenty-one in Category C.
He is now serving a prison sentence for these offences.
