LIVERPOOL MAN SPARED JAIL DESPITE CHILD ABUSE IMAGE COLLECTION
A Liverpool man has avoided immediate prison despite being caught with dozens of Category A child abuse images stored on his laptop.James Segar, from Wavertree, Liverpool, was sentenced after the court heard he possessed a collection of indecent images of children, including some of the most serious category of abuse material.
The court was told Segar had: * 20 Category A images * 18 Category B images * 14 Category C images All of the images were found on his laptop.
Despite the severity of the offences, Segar was handed a suspended prison sentence rather than being sent directly to jail.
He received: * 10 months imprisonment, suspended for 12 months * 10 years on the Sex Offenders Register * 80 hours of community service * 60 hours rehabilitation activity requirement * £272 fine It was also revealed in court that Segar is paying off the fine at a rate of £20 per month until the debt is cleared.
According to information provided to the court, Segar requested an adjournment on the day of proceedings, claiming he could not afford legal aid.
The request was refused.
