JAMES RATLEY FROM KINGWOOD CAUGHT DISTRIBUTING INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN IN NEVILLE ROAD

In July 2018, James Ratley, a 46-year-old resident of Neville Road in Kingswood, was found guilty of possessing and distributing indecent images of children.

Over a period of twelve months, Ratley created and stored photographs classified under categories A, B, and C, all depicting very young children in explicit and inappropriate contexts.

Further investigations revealed that Ratley had actively shared these illicit images by uploading them to a chat room, specifically distributing indecent photographs categorized as C.

His actions not only involved the creation of harmful material but also its dissemination, which significantly contributed to the exploitation and victimization of vulnerable minors.

As a consequence of his crimes, Ratley was sentenced to a 35-week jail term, which was suspended for two years, allowing him to avoid immediate imprisonment under certain conditions.

Additionally, he was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for a period of ten years, a measure intended to monitor and prevent further offenses.

In addition to the custodial sentence and registration requirement, Ratley was also mandated to pay a surcharge of £115 and cover legal costs amounting to £85.

These penalties serve as a reminder of the serious nature of his offenses and the ongoing efforts by authorities to combat the distribution of child exploitation material.
