EYEMOUTH MAN BANNED FROM CONTACTING EX AFTER DOMESTIC OFFENCES
AN EYEMOUTH man involved in a domestic-related bust up with his partner has been banned from contacting her for three years at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.Forty-eight-year-old James McKenna, of Deanhead Drive, pleaded guilty to sending her offensive phone and video messages on December 7.
He also admitted assaulting her by throwing a bag of food at her and poking her in the face near to the right eye with his index finger.
McKenna pleaded guilty to a third charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner outside a property in Albert Road, Eyemouth, and uttering threats of violence.
Ruaridh Allison, prosecuting, said the couple had been in a relationship for six years but the woman decided at around 7pm on December 6 she decided she was going to end it and left for a friend’s address.
He explained that when McKenna realised she was not attending, he bombarded her with offensive messages alleging she had been having an affair.
When the woman came to collect her belongings the next day, McKenna assaulted her and the woman contacted the police.
Defence lawyer Ross Dow said his client was remorseful but had been upset.
Sheriff Peter Paterson imposed fines totalling £400 for the three offences with a £20 victim surcharge.
He also ordered McKenna to pay his ex-partner £150 in compensation and imposed a non-harassment order banning him from having any contact with her for three years.
