JAMES LEEMING FROM TOWCESTER SENTENCED FOR VOYEURISTIC IMAGES OF CHILDREN IN NORTHAMPTONSHIRE
In August 2017, a man from Northamptonshire, specifically from Towcester, was handed a significant prison sentence after being found guilty of possessing a large collection of illicit images and videos involving children. James Leeming, residing on Campbell Close in Towcester, faced serious charges related to voyeurism and the creation of indecent images of minors.Leeming appeared before Northampton Magistrates' Court on July 10, where he pleaded guilty to three counts of voyeurism and two counts of making indecent images of children. The court was informed that authorities discovered over 200 such images and videos stored across multiple devices. Prosecutor Roxanne Aisthorpe detailed that the evidence included 71 voyeuristic photographs and 135 videos, which were located on two Dell laptops, two USB sticks, and three separate memory cards. Some of these illicit videos and images had been captured using Leeming’s smartphone, although the identities of many of the children depicted remain unknown.
During the investigation, Leeming initially attempted to justify his actions by claiming that he made the videos because he “liked to watch people who didn’t know they were being watched,” according to Miss Aisthorpe. This disturbing admission underscored the nature of his offending and the breach of privacy involved.
As part of his sentencing, Leeming was subjected to a five-year sexual harm prevention order, which prohibits him from having unsupervised contact with children. Additionally, he is required to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities to protect the community from potential harm.
Leeming’s case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat child exploitation and the importance of strict legal measures to prevent such offenses from recurring.
