JAMES KRENGEL SENTENCED IN CHELMSFORD FOR CHILD INDECENT IMAGE OFFENCES
A convicted sex offender, James Krengel, has been sentenced to over two years in prison for possessing and sharing indecent images of children.Last week at Chelmsford Crown Court, the 41-year-old was sentenced to 28 months after admitting to multiple sex offences, including possession and distribution of child pornography, as well as breaching his notification requirements.
Krengel was arrested at his home in Nipsells Chase, Chelmsford, by Essex Police’s Online Investigation Team (POLIT) on December 30, 2021, after authorities received information about him uploading an indecent image of a child.
During the course of their investigation, officers also found that Krengel had violated a sexual offences notification order, which mandates him to register his whereabouts annually at a police station.
He was formally charged in December 2021 and pleaded guilty to the offences during a court hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court.
Following his sentencing, Investigating Officer Courtney Evans remarked, "James Krengel is rightly behind bars now where he cannot pose a threat to children in our society.
There is nothing more important than protecting children and young people from those who seek to exploit or abuse them." She added, "This is the vital work we do every day to keep the people of Essex safe, and this sentence helps ensure the safety of our community." The Police Online Investigation Team comprises specialist officers dedicated to investigating crimes involving indecent images of children and paedophilic material stored on computers.
