2014: SPURNED LOVER JAILED FOR STALKING EX WITH FAKE FACEBOOK ACCOUNT
A man who was spurned by his former partner has received a prison sentence exceeding two years after creating a fictitious Facebook account to reach out to her.He also defrauded another woman by persuading her to hand over a £14,000 BMW, which she had purchased on finance.
Furthermore, he ignored court directives by attempting to contact his ex, Charlotte Rostron, and sent her Facebook messages shortly before Christmas last year.
In the messages, he called her a "twisted cow" but also expressed his desire to send a cheque for Christmas presents for their child.
When she did not reply, he made another fake profile to contact her again, before passing money to a friend in April last year for his daughter.
The court was told that Casey’s relationship with Miss Rostron ended because of domestic violence.
The 23-year-old admitted to breaching court orders before his hearing at Bolton Crown Court, as well as to breaking into a house on Horrocks View, Smithills, on May 13 of the previous year.
In the burglary, he stole £15,000 worth of electrical devices, cash, and jewelry, with the court describing the crime as carefully planned.
The court also noted his history of criminal activity, including previous burglaries, and confirmed that his relationship breakdown was related to domestic violence.
Casey received a prison sentence of two years for the burglary, eight months for the theft of the BMW, and a concurrent four-month sentence for breaching a restraining order.
