JAKUB SOJKA FROM MOTHERWELL SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES IN GLASGOW AND EDINBURGH
On July 31, Jakub Sojka was officially convicted of serious criminal offenses following a trial held at the High Court in Glasgow.The case centered around a disturbing incident involving a 15-year-old girl whom Sojka met in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, on March 1, 2021.
After their initial meeting, he took her to his residence, where the sequence of events that led to his conviction unfolded.
Once inside his home, Sojka subjected the young girl to a series of coercive and violent acts.
He demanded that she consume a powder substance, the nature of which remains unspecified, and issued threats of violence directed at her family members.
During this ordeal, he physically assaulted her by hitting her head against a door, further demonstrating his violent intent.
The girl was held against her will, unable to leave or seek help, which compounded the severity of his actions.
While under the influence of alcohol, the victim was sexually assaulted by Sojka, who then proceeded to rape her.
The details of this assault highlight the predatory nature of Sojka’s conduct and the profound harm inflicted upon the young girl.
The case drew significant attention, culminating in a sentencing hearing held on August 27 at the High Court in Edinburgh.
There, Sojka was sentenced to a term of seven years in prison, reflecting the gravity of his crimes.
In addition to his imprisonment, Jakub Sojka’s name has been entered onto the sex offenders register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions.
A court also issued a 10-year non-harassment order, explicitly prohibiting Sojka from contacting or attempting to contact the victim in any manner, thereby providing her with some measure of protection from further harm.
Katrina Parkes, the Procurator Fiscal responsible for high court sexual offending cases in Scotland, issued a statement condemning Sojka’s actions.
She described the attack as “appalling” and “opportunistic,” emphasizing the vulnerability of the young girl involved.
Parkes praised the victim’s bravery in coming forward and reporting the incident, which was instrumental in securing justice.
She reaffirmed Scotland’s stance that such offenses have no place in society and urged other victims to seek help and report similar crimes.
Parkes assured the public that authorities are committed to pursuing justice for all victims of sexual violence, utilizing all available legal tools to do so.
