MAIDSTONE PERVERT WHO ASKED TEEN FOR INDECENT IMAGE OF HERSELF MUST NOW SIGN ON THE SEX OFFENDERS REGISTER
A pervert who asked a teenager to take indecent pictures of herself and send them to him must now sign on the sex offenders register.Jake Morton not only asked for an indecent image of the girl, who was under the age of 15, but he also asked her sexually oriented questions when he messaged her in October last year.
The 26-year-old’s deviant behaviour was reported to the police and he was later charged.
Morton, of Connaught Close, Maidstone, admitted attempting to incite a girl to engage in sexual activity and attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child when he appeared at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on November 5.
The court heard the offences happened between October 10 and October 18 when he asked her to take an indecent image of herself and send it to him, and when he sent her messages asking her sexual questions.
Magistrates agreed and retained jurisdiction over the matter and ordered a pre-sentence report be carried out on Morton before he learns his fate.
They also told him that now he’d admitted the offences, he would be subject to the requirements of the sex offenders register and must report to a police station within three days of the hearing to register as a sex offender.
Individuals convicted of a relevant sexual offence in the UK have statutory notification requirements, including providing personal details like name, date of birth, and address to the police, and must keep them updated.
Morton was granted bail until his sentencing hearing, which will be held at the same court on the morning of December 30.
