JAKE CORRIE CAUGHT WITH CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN ANNITSFORD AND STOCKTON

In August 2017, a man with aspirations of becoming a youth worker was found to be in possession of a disturbing collection of indecent images of children. The investigation began when police officers executed a search warrant at the residence of Jake Corrie, a 29-year-old man originally from Annitsford, North Tyneside, but who was later found living on Westbourne Street in Stockton, Teesside.

During the raid, law enforcement officials uncovered a troubling cache of digital material on Corrie’s computer. The seized device contained a total of 46 images and videos, some of which were classified as the most serious category—category A—indicating they involved penetrative sexual activity with children. Among these were eight movies of the most severe kind, alongside numerous other images and videos categorized as B and C, revealing a disturbing pattern of illicit material.

The investigation was initiated after authorities identified Corrie operating a profile on a photo hosting website called imgsrc.ru. This profile, which he maintained under a pseudonym, featured a profile picture of a young girl estimated to be around four or five years old. The profile also contained folders filled with images of young girls, prompting officers to trace the account back to Corrie.

According to the court proceedings, the police first encountered Corrie in January 2016, when they observed his activity on the website. Despite initially being unidentified, the profile’s content and the use of a young girl’s image led investigators to link it directly to Corrie. Further inquiries culminated in an arrest and caution at Corrie’s Annitsford address on September 22, 2016. During the police interview, Corrie admitted to the authorities that he did not deny his involvement but expressed remorse, stating, “I don’t deny doing it but I was in a bad, horrible place.”

Following the arrest, a search of Corrie’s home revealed a disturbing array of digital evidence. The police found three categories of images and videos on his computer, including eight movies classified as category A, one image and two movies in category B, and 30 images along with five movies in category C. These findings confirmed the possession of highly illegal material involving children.

In addition to the possession of indecent images, Corrie faced charges related to drug possession, specifically cannabis. He pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing indecent images of children and one count of possessing cannabis. His background included involvement in a project aimed at helping young people find employment, which was now overshadowed by his criminal actions.

During sentencing, magistrates decided to impose a 52-week prison sentence, but it was suspended for two years, allowing Corrie to avoid immediate imprisonment. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for the next ten years and was subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the same duration. Additionally, Corrie was mandated to participate in the police’s sex offenders’ group programme, emphasizing the seriousness of his offenses and the need for ongoing monitoring and rehabilitation.
