RAPIST JAILED FOR 15 YEARS AT CAMBRIDGE CROWN COURT HEARING
A dangerous offender who committed a violent rape by strangling his victim until she lost consciousness and then assaulting her has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.Jacob Negus, aged 24, initially connected with the woman through a dating app and met her the next day in August 2022.
After approximately a month of dating, Negus began to exhibit controlling behavior, insisting she remove other men from her social media profiles or he would end their relationship.
The woman then decided to break things off, but Negus later sent her flowers and apologized, leading to an on-and-off relationship lasting a few months.
In 2023, while at his then residence in Maxey, near Stamford, Negus exhibited violent tendencies.
On one occasion, he strangled the woman until she fainted, causing a burst blood vessel in her eye.
When she regained consciousness, she realized he was raping her.
Seeing she was awake, Negus pulled her hair, forced her to stand, and strangled her again.
Throughout their relationship, Negus also left bruises on her thighs after grabbing them, verbally abused her, and threatened to harm her.
The woman later confided in a family member and reported the abuse to the authorities.
On June 25, at Cambridge Crown Court, Negus, of Leofric Close, Crowland, Lincolnshire, was sentenced to 15 years after being convicted of rape, deliberate strangulation, and engaging in coercive and controlling behavior within an intimate relationship.
