DOMESTIC ABUSE SUSPECT GAVIN BOOT JAILED FOR THREATENING WITNESS
Update 25/02/2026: Gavin Boot, 33, had been visiting his former partner at her home in Peterborough on 17 August when an argument broke out between the pair.Despite a restraining order against him, Boot managed to manipulate his way into the victim’s home following his release from prison, when she discovered messages on his phone which triggered a violent outburst from him.
Boot caused damage to the victim’s property, threatened her with violence, and stopped her from leaving her own home when she tried to escape.
After pleading with Boot, the victim managed to escape to a friend’s house in fear of his violence, but he followed her there, continuing the onslaught of threatening phone calls and text messages.
Boot sent the victim photos of himself outside the friend’s house, and in one message, threatened to “execute” her.
He proceeded to drive his car at speed towards the house, threatening to crash into it, and then turned off the home’s electricity which required emergency repairs.
When the victim then tried to escape to her parents’ house, Boot followed her there, threatening to "run her off the road”.
He continued harassing the victim throughout the day, and sent a video of himself outside her parents’ home.
The victim reported Boot’s behaviour to the police, who handed himself in at Thorpe Wood Police Station on 19 August, where he was arrested.
At Peterborough Magistrates' Court (acting as a crown court) on Friday (20 February), Boot, of no fixed address, was jailed for two years and eight months after admitting to sending communications threatening death or serious harm, criminal damage and making threats to kill.

A domestic abuse suspect named Gavin Boot, aged 32, has been sentenced to a year in jail after he was found guilty of repeatedly threatening a woman to withdraw her statement in a domestic abuse case.
Despite her attempts to block him on Instagram, Boot contacted the woman, leading to her receiving threats along with her partner.
As a result of these threats, the woman, who was a witness in the case, withdrew her statement a few days later.
Boot, who has no fixed address, was arrested on January 10 in Glebe Gardens, Crowland.
On July 3, he appeared at Cambridge Crown Court and was sentenced to one year imprisonment after admitting to witness intimidation.
Additionally, a restraining order was issued for five years, prohibiting him from contacting the woman.
Detective Constable Emily Richardson expressed gratitude to the victim for her persistence in reporting the threats, emphasizing that efforts to hinder legal proceedings are taken very seriously by the police and court, as reflected in Boot's sentence.
