JACK LARCOMBE FROM BRIDPORT RECEIVES COMMUNITY ORDER IN DORCHESTER FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT

In March 2016, Jack Larcombe, also known as Jack Wilson, was sentenced at Dorchester Crown Court to a community order after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

Prosecutor Stuart Ellacott explained that the offence occurred on August 6, 2014, involving a 17-year-old girl while Larcombe was 18. Larcombe, now 20, had been invited to the girl’s home, but she was on medication and struggling with sleeplessness, resulting in her lying on the floor.

In the plea, Larcombe admitted that the girl did not consent to the sexual activity but claimed she was awake during the incident, although she appeared distant towards him. Mr. Ellacott recounted that after the girl challenged him, Larcombe left, asking her not to tell anyone.

The victim also reported that Larcombe later contacted her by phone and threatened to beat her if she revealed what had happened. He was interviewed about the incident over a year later and denied any recollection of visiting her home or having sexual contact, but ultimately, he entered a guilty plea in court.

The girl provided a victim impact statement, saying: “I wish he had said something sooner to save me all the extra pain I had to go through.”

During sentencing, Jamie Porter, the defendant’s solicitor, argued that Larcombe has Asperger’s syndrome and had misread the situation, describing the incident as "a misjudgement of the situation as much as non-consensual touching."

Judge Jonathan Fuller addressed Larcombe, stating: “The error of your ways is clear, and that is that you entirely misjudged and assumed quite wrongly that she was consenting to what you were doing when she wasn’t and this must have been a very frightening thing for the young lady.”

Larcombe was sentenced to a 24-month community order, which included supervision and activity requirements. Additionally, he was placed on the sex offenders’ register for five years.
