JAIL SENTENCE FOR JACK BURNS IN LANCASTER AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT
A dangerous offender, Jack Burns, has been sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting a woman after breaking into her home in Lancaster.
The incident took place around 11 pm on September 9, 2021, at a property on Morley Road.
Burns, who is from Lancaster but has no fixed address, entered the victim's home and assaulted her while she was in bed.
Burns, aged 24, appeared at Preston Crown Court on Monday, April 11, and admitted to the charges of sexual assault and burglary.
He was sentenced to seven years in prison, with the court also imposing an extended two-year license period due to the judge’s classification of him as a dangerous offender.
Additionally, Burns will be on the sex offenders register for life.
Commenting on the case, Detective Sergeant Hana Alayli-Moore of Lancashire Constabulary stated, "I am satisfied with Burns’ sentence and hope it sends a message that we will not tolerate this type of crime in Lancashire." The police encourage anyone wishing to report a sexual offence to contact them by calling 101, or dial 999 in an emergency.
