MAIDSTONE CARE WORKER ISSOOP NAGUIB LOOTFUN SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON VULNERABLE WOMAN
A disturbing case of sexual misconduct has culminated in the imprisonment of Issoop Naguib Lootfun, a 69-year-old care worker employed at a care home in Maidstone. The incident involved the assault of a young woman with disabilities who was under his care, raising serious concerns about trust and safety within vulnerable care environments. The case came to light on the morning of May 8, 2024, when authorities were alerted after a condom wrapper was discovered in the victim’s room. This discovery prompted a thorough investigation, which revealed troubling evidence linking Lootfun to the crime. Initially, Lootfun claimed that the condom had fallen out of his pocket and denied any sexual activity with the woman, attempting to dismiss the incident as accidental. Following this, he was immediately suspended from his duties at the care home, pending further inquiries.
Further forensic analysis of the care home’s waste disposal areas uncovered two used condoms. DNA testing confirmed that both condoms contained genetic material matching Lootfun and the victim. Additionally, semen stains were found within the young woman’s room, and these stains also matched Lootfun’s DNA profile, providing concrete evidence of sexual contact without consent.
The case was brought before Maidstone Crown Court, where on October 9, 2024, Lootfun was sentenced to a total of 11 years in prison. An additional four years were added to his sentence on extended licence, reflecting the severity of his actions and the need for continued supervision after his release.
Daniel Harrison, representing the Crown Prosecution Service South East, described the case as “utterly sickening and horrendous.” He emphasized that the victim, due to her disabilities, was entirely unable to give consent, and Lootfun, having worked at the care home for some time, was fully aware of her vulnerabilities. Harrison highlighted the premeditated nature of Lootfun’s actions, noting that the offender had taken deliberate steps to conceal his crime. Evidence showed that Lootfun had carefully disposed of the used condom, placing it in plastic gloves before discarding it in the waste, indicating a conscious effort to hide his misconduct.
Faced with overwhelming evidence, Lootfun ultimately pleaded guilty to the charges against him, acknowledging his guilt in this deeply troubling case. The sentencing underscores the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals and holding perpetrators accountable for breaches of trust and abuse of power in care settings.
