DEIGHTON MAN IRFAN SHAH THREATENED TO KILL HIS ESTRANGED WIFE
A man who threatened to kill his estranged wife then forced her to flee into a storage cupboard to get away from him has been sentenced.Irfan Shah, of Riddings Road in Deighton, pleaded guilty to two breaches of a non-molestation order at a previous hearing at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court.
The court order banned the 40-year-old from contacting the mother of his four children and using or threatening unlawful violence towards her.
But on the same day as receiving the order on October 23 he banged on the door of his wife’s Birkby home and demanded to be let in.
She then received an abusive call from Shah in which he threatened to kill her when she returned home.
On November 1 he broke into her home, forcing her to run upstairs and hide in a storage cupboard.
Shah then found her and hid in the same cupboard until police arrived and arrested him.
He admitted he was drunk at the time but should learn to respect the boundaries that had been set for him.
Deputy District Judge Hales sentenced Shah to a community order with 150 hours of unpaid work.
He must also pay £180 court charge, £85 costs and £60 victim surcharge.
