INDERJIT BAINS SENTENCED IN BRISTOL FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT COMMITTED OVER 23 YEARS AGO

In a case that spanned over two decades, Inderjit Singh Bains, a 46-year-old man residing on Heneage Lane, Falfield, was handed a significant prison sentence of ten and a half years for a brutal sexual assault that took place in Bristol more than 23 years ago. The incident, which remained unresolved for many years, involved the victim, a woman now in her fifties, who bravely came forward to recount her traumatic experience.

The assault occurred in the early hours of January 10, 2002, in the St Werburghs area of Bristol. According to court records, Bains was driving a white panel van when he stopped outside a local pub. He then approached the woman, who was involved in street sex work, and persuaded her to enter his vehicle. Once inside, Bains drove her to a secluded location in Frenchay, where he subjected her to physical and sexual assault. The attack left the victim with injuries and deep emotional scars that persisted for years.

The victim’s courage in reporting the crime was instrumental in bringing Bains to justice. In January 2022, she provided detailed descriptions of her attacker and the vehicle to authorities, which ultimately led to his identification.
