MORAY MAN'S RAGE OVER FLOWERS SPARKS POLICE CALL AND COURT ORDER
A man from Moray, Ian Mitchell, became extremely enraged upon discovering a bouquet of flowers his partner Maryann Stewart received was from her mother.
Mitchell, under the influence of alcohol, falsely believed the flowers had been sent by a 'fancy man,' leading to a heated and aggressive confrontation at their home in Findhorn Court.
The situation escalated to the point where police had to be called to the Elgin residence.
Mitchell admitted to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and making abusive remarks towards Ms Stewart.
In addition to the incident, it was revealed that Mitchell had previously threatened police officers in August, requiring restraint and handcuffs.
The court considered his behavior to be underpinned by alcohol misuse and warned him that he was in 'last chance saloon.' As part of his sentence, Mitchell was ordered to perform 120 hours of unpaid work within six months, and he will remain under supervision for 18 months, during which he will attend alcohol counseling sessions.
The judge emphasized that this was a 'last ditch attempt' to prevent him from going to prison.
