MAN JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING TWO YOUNG GIRLS
A man accused of abusing two young girls was labeled a 'monster' after his heinous acts came to light.Ian Havery, aged 53, from Morpeth in Northumberland, inflicted lasting trauma on his victims through multiple sexual assaults, which included physically hitting one girl when she did not comply with his depraved demands.
The court was informed that Havery also engaged in online discussions with other offenders and stored indecent images of children.
During the hearing, Havery confessed to charges of rape and sexual assault.
A judge at Newcastle Crown Court described him as dangerous and sentenced him to 16 years in prison.
The abuse was uncovered last year when one of the girls confided in a family member, revealing that Havery had called her a "nonce" and had touched her.
The second victim disclosed that he had molested her as early as age nine, had orally raped her, and reacted violently when she resisted or failed to do his bidding, which included hitting her and other forms of sexual abuse.
Upon arrest, Havery fully admitted all allegations made by the victims.
Prosecutors confirmed he pleaded guilty to two counts of rape, ten sexual assaults, and two counts of inciting sexual activity.
Further investigations into his electronic devices two hard drives and a mobile phone revealed over 300 indecent images of children aged between four and 16, with 142 images classified as the most severe category.
None depicted the victims who testified.
Havery was sentenced to 16 years' imprisonment, with an additional six-year extended licence period.
He is required to serve at least two-thirds of his sentence, as he was deemed dangerous.
Additionally, he must register as a sex offender for life and be subject to a lifelong sexual harm prevention order.
