MAN THREATENS EX-PARTNER IN SNAPCHAT RANT, GETS SENTENCED IN ALNESS
Ian Docherty, a 42-year-old mechanical engineer from Alness, has pleaded guilty to threatening and abusive behaviour after posting a disturbing video on Snapchat.
In the video, he publicly accused his ex-partner of being a "two-faced cow" and warned that "she'll get what’s coming to her" while claiming he had "hard mates." The video, shared via Snapchat’s stories feature on July 10 of the previous year, showed Docherty ranting about his ex, which led to police intervention.
The court was informed that Docherty's actions were considered "extremely foolish" and "misguided," especially given his poor mental health at the time.
Docherty appeared in Tain Sheriff Court for sentencing, where he admitted to the charge of threatening or abusive behaviour.
The sheriff, Gary Aitken, told him that he was developing a record of domestic offending that needed to stop.
As a sentence, Docherty was placed on a two-year community payback order and required to join the Caledonian Men’s Programme, an initiative aimed at tackling domestic abuse.
