2008; PERVERT JAILED FOR SEX ATTACKS ON CHILDREN
A man from Leigh found guilty of sexually abusing four children has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.
Ian Bamford, aged 55 and residing on Firs Lane in Leigh, appeared before Preston Crown Court where he admitted to multiple serious sex offenses.
The crimes, which involved five counts of sexual assault, seven counts of indecent assault, and two charges of indecency with a child, were committed against three girls and one boy over several years.
The offenses took place in both the Chorley and Wigan areas.
During the hearing, Judge Philip Sycamore emphasized the severity of Bamford’s actions, stating that such conduct is widely regarded as deeply repulsive.
He also noted that the court's sentences must convey society’s strong condemnation of such behavior.
Bamford was also informed that he will be barred indefinitely from working with children and will remain on the sex offenders' register permanently.
