WEMBLEY MAN JAILED FOR POSING AS TEEN TO PREY ON YOUNG GIRLS

Himanshu Makwana, a resident of Thurlby Road, Wembley, has been sentenced to nine years in prison at Harrow Crown Court after being convicted of two counts of rape.

The first known incident occurred in 2019 when the 42-year-old began communicating with an 18-year-old woman, eventually luring her to an empty office building where he raped her.

Although police were informed at the time, the victim was not identified.

Four years later, in 2023, Makwana used an alias, posing as a 19-year-old named Samir, to contact another victim who had just turned 16.

He waited outside her school before tricking her into his car and taking her to an empty building to commit the assault.

Makwana was arrested on November 27, 2023, the day after the second incident, and DNA evidence linked him to the 2019 case.

He was formally charged on December 22, 2023, and subsequently sentenced to nine years in prison with an additional four years on extended licence, as well as a lifetime requirement to register as a sex offender.

Detective Constable Lewis Jelley emphasized the premeditated nature of his crimes, stating: 'Makwana posed as a young man on social media in order to prey on young girls.

He carried out a horrific attack on one woman, and then did the same thing again a few years later.

He was brought to justice following a painstaking investigation.

I want to thank the two brave young women who came forward and reported the offences to us.

Without their courage, we would not be in the position we are today.'
