HAYDRIAN GARNETT FROM BARTON INVOLVED IN CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND BURGLARY IN SCUNTHORPE

In a case that has shocked the local community, Haydrian Garnett, a 19-year-old resident of Tofts Road in Barton, was found to be in possession of indecent images of children and extreme pornography involving animals. The charges stem from incidents that occurred between February 1 and February 20, during which Garnett also admitted to making these illicit images. His criminal activities did not stop there; he also pleaded guilty to burglary and breaching a sexual offences prevention order on April 6, as well as possessing cannabis on March 1.

According to the prosecution, Jeremy Evans, Garnett attempted to steal a purse from a residence on Sheffield Street in Scunthorpe. This incident took place amidst a celebration for a young boy’s tenth birthday, which made the attempted theft particularly brazen. The victim, a young boy, shouted “Burglar!” alerting nearby friends and family members, who quickly detained Garnett until authorities arrived.

The arrest occurred on February 20, after police seized Garnett’s mobile phone, where they discovered a total of 84 illegal photographs. These images included indecent pictures of children and extreme pornography involving animals, highlighting the severity of his offenses.

Garnett’s criminal history is extensive. In May 2010, he was sentenced at Hull Crown Court to three and a half years in prison for burglary and sexual assault of a 76-year-old woman. As part of his sentence, he was subject to a sexual offences prevention order, which was extended until May 2020. During the current proceedings, Jeremy Lindsay, representing Garnett, explained that his client had been facing various personal issues and had spent approximately 93 days in custody.

It was also revealed that Garnett had previously been known as Luke Platten. His ongoing legal issues and previous convictions underscore the seriousness of his recent offenses, which have led to his continued detention and legal scrutiny.
