HALL GREEN MAN JAILED FOR TRICKING WOMAN INTO SEX USING FAKE POLICE MESSAGES
Harvinder Singh Jheeta, aged 23 and residing on Ferndale Road in Hall Green, has been sentenced to eight years behind bars after admitting to charges related to a disturbing deception.Jheeta falsely impersonated police officers to coerce a young woman into engaging in unwanted sexual acts.
He pleaded guilty to inducing a woman to have sex by deception, and also admitted to raping her on four separate occasions prior to March this year.
Additionally, he confessed to blackmailing her by demanding money for supposed 'security services.' The court heard that the victim, now in her twenties and a student from Solihull, initially met Jheeta at college.
She later received threatening messages and calls from an Asian male threatening to kidnap her and force her to convert to Islam.
She confided in Jheeta about these threats, and he claimed he would report the matter to the police and manage it.
Subsequently, she received messages from Jheeta, claiming they were from police officers involved in the investigation.
These messages were, in fact, sent by Jheeta himself.
Believing she was following police instructions, the victim continued to have sex with Jheeta on multiple occasions.
The case was regarded as unusual by the court, with Judge Richard Cole commenting, 'You took part in this bizarre charade to persuade her she was at risk to try to put pressure on her to have sex with you.' Prosecutor Michael Duck stated that Jheeta’s falsehoods persisted until he eventually admitted to them.
The defense described Jheeta as a 'pathetic young man' rather than a typical sexual predator and emphasized the unusual nature of the case.
Ultimately, Jheeta was convicted and received an eight-year prison sentence for his actions.
