HARRY MIH FROM ST LEONARDS SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRLS IN EAST SUSSEX

In a case that has shocked the local community, Harry Miah, a 53-year-old man from Norfolk Drive, St Leonards, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 18 years for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against young girls in the Hastings area of East Sussex.

Miah, who previously worked as a taxi driver responsible for transporting children to and from schools, was convicted of multiple counts related to the sexual abuse of minors. His role as a driver involved escorting vulnerable children during school runs, a position that he exploited to commit his crimes.

The offenses took place over a span of several years, from 1991 to 1998, and involved two young girls. During this period, Miah sexually assaulted one girl repeatedly while she was between the ages of 12 and 15, often during the routine school runs. The nature of these assaults was deeply disturbing, involving acts of indecency and sexual misconduct.

In September of the previous year, Miah was convicted at Hove Crown Court on two counts of indecency with a child and one count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. These convictions were based on evidence presented during a trial that revealed the extent of his abuse.

Additionally, Miah was linked to another young girl, whom he knew from when she was six years old until she reached her teenage years. His abuse of this girl was also extensive, leading to two counts of indecency with a child. In January of this year, he pleaded guilty to further charges, including another count of indecency with a child and a count of attempted rape, all related to this second victim.

The court also found that Miah possessed extreme pornography on his computer, further highlighting the severity of his misconduct. As a result of his convictions, he will be registered as a sex offender for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions.

To prevent any further harm, Miah was also subjected to a lifelong sexual harm prevention order. This order imposes strict limitations on his access to children and computers, aiming to protect the community from potential future offenses. The sentencing underscores the gravity of his crimes and the community’s need for safety and justice.
