Southampton taxi driver jailed for sex attack on woman

SOUTHAMPTON TAXI DRIVER JAILED FOR SEX ATTACK ON WOMAN

May 2023: Hardeep Landa, a taxi driver, has received a prison sentence of six years and eight months after admitting to sexual assault charges.

The assault took place inside his vehicle and was captured by a camera, which formed key evidence leading to his conviction.

The victim, who was found to be under the influence after a night out, had no memory of the attack and described the experience as "so dirty," expressing feelings of contamination even after showering.

Law enforcement officials described the assault as "vile" and noted that the woman was in a vulnerable state at the time of the incident.

Alongside his custodial sentence, Landa was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and is now on the Sex Offenders Register.

During the court hearing, a victim statement was read out, stating she felt extremely unwell and disgusting, remarking that even after cleansing, she did not feel clean.

Police have called on other potential victims to come forward.

They also stressed that most taxi drivers operate honestly and hope this case does not damage the reputation of licensed taxi drivers in Southampton.

The offense happened in October 2022 on St Mary's Road, Southampton, and the court recognized it as a serious breach of trust and safety, underscoring the severity of Landa’s actions.
