MAN POSED AS TAXI DRIVER TO ABDUCT AND RAPE TEENAGER
A man working as a takeaway delivery person who posed as a taxi driver was convicted of abducting and assaulting a teenage girl during her night out in Liverpool city centre.Hameed Naderi, described as a 'remorseless predator,' forcibly took the 19-year-old student from the streets in the early hours, convincing her to get into his vehicle before assaulting her both in a public setting and his own residence.
Naderi remains indifferent to the severity of his crimes.
During a hearing at Liverpool Crown Court, it was revealed that the victim had taken a taxi into town shortly after 12:15 am.
Prosecutor Michael Scholes explained that she remembered being in a bar on Concert Square but later found herself in Naderi’s bedroom with him on top of her, engaging in sexual acts.
The timeline was reconstructed using CCTV footage and her phone data, showing that she exited the bar around 3 am and visited a takeaway.
She was denied entry to another bar due to intoxication, after which Naderi, operating a silver Ford Fiesta, picked her up on Lime Street leading her to believe he was a licensed taxi driver.
Footage showed her passing by his car near Lime Street Station, where he approached her, linked arms, and guided her into his vehicle before driving away.
He took her to his home on Moses Street in Toxteth and later to Riverside Drive in Otterspool, where he raped her.
This assault was uncovered after Naderi later disclosed to police that he had had sex with her at this location though she had no memory of it.
After roughly 45 minutes there, they returned to Moses Street, where he raped her again.
Naderi appeared via video link with an interpreter, and it was noted he has no prior convictions.
His defender, Satpal Roth-Sharma, stated that Naderi had been working delivering food around Lime Street that evening.
Initially arriving in the UK as an asylum seeker, Naderi is now set for deportation.
Ms.
Roth-Sharma acknowledged she could not explain why her client was in the area but confirmed he admitted that non-consensual sex is illegal.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of rape and was sentenced to nine and a half years in prison, with an additional five years on licence.
He is also required to register as a sex offender for life.
