WESTCLIFF MAN JAILED FOR NEARLY 14 YEARS FOR RAPE AND DRUG OFFENCES
A Westcliff man has been sentenced to nearly 14 years in prison for serious crimes including rape and drug offences.
Halil Cetinkayali, aged 30, was convicted after using a mobile phone to record himself raping a 19-year-old victim while she was asleep.
The incident occurred between July 2013 and April 2014.
Additionally, Cetinkayali faced charges of attempting to supply class A drugs, possessing heroin with intent to supply, possessing cocaine with intent to supply, and breaching a restraining order.
He denied all allegations but was found guilty following a trial at Chelmsford Crown Court in July of the previous year.
Sentencing on April 8th included eight years for rape, five years and eight months for drug supply-related offences, which will run consecutively, with an additional six months for breach of the restraining order, all to be served alongside an extended six-year license.
Investigating officer Pc Carla Thomas stated the victim showed remarkable bravery and expressed hope that the substantial sentence would help her move past the trauma.
