A Southend paedophile has been jailed for five years.
Mark Baillie, of North Road, Westcliff, was first arrested and questioned by police in August 2025 after reports he had been engaged in sexual conversations online with what he believed were children, but were actually decoy accounts.
The 37-year-old’s devices were seized and analysed by officers who discovered more than 2,200 child abuse images, as well as evidence Baillie had engaged in sexual conversations via video with children online.
Once these were found Baillie was quickly arrested again and charged with: - five counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity - four counts of making indecent images of children - three counts of distributing indecent images of children - two counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity - two counts of attempting to communicate with a child - one count of threatening to share intimate images He pleaded guilty to all charges at Southend Crown Court and was sentenced on Friday February 27 at the same court.
He was also given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), and added to the Sex Offenders Register for life.
