2009: KIDDERMINSTER MAN WHO BEAT UP WIFE JAILED
Guy Lynch, 35, of Puxton Drive, Kidderminster, has been sentenced to six months in prison after physically assaulting his wife following her social visit with friends.Prosecutor Stephen Davies reported that Lynch punched his wife in the face multiple times and kicked her in the stomach as she fell to the ground.
Lynch pleaded guilty to the charge of causing actual bodily harm during proceedings at Worcester Crown Court.
The incident took place on March 1 at their residence on Villiers Street, Kidderminster, where they were living together despite being in the process of separating.
Mrs Lynch had returned home after a night at a local pub and ignored a text from her husband asking her to come back.
Upon her arrival, Lynch accused her of being drunk and sparked an argument.
He also placed blame on her for his being banned from his regular pub.
The attack resulted in bruising and a broken arm, with doctors estimating a three-year period for full recovery.
Lynch's criminal background includes a caution for a punch at a petrol station and a conviction for impaired driving.
His legal team explained that their relationship, which started in 1997 and led to marriage in 2001, was now nearing its end through divorce.
Lynch, who served five years in the Army and left with an impeccable record despite experiencing bullying, was battling depression related to job insecurity and fears of losing his marriage and home.
The judge stated that Lynch’s assault, fueled by jealousy and anger, caused significant injuries and reinforced the message that domestic violence will not be tolerated by the courts.
