TEENAGE JEALOUSY-DRIVEN KILLER JAILED FOR LIFE IN READING
A 19-year-old male named Gulamyr Akhter was found guilty of murdering his former girlfriend, Asha Muneer, in Reading.
The courtroom was told that Akhter, motivated by jealousy and rejection, was unable to accept her dismissing him and carried out the fatal attack by stabbing her multiple times.
The incident occurred along a river towpath where Asha was discovered with over 30 stab wounds.
It was revealed that prior to the attack, Akhter had contacted her excessively, making over 600 phone calls and sending threatening texts such as "I wish you go through hell and you die." During his arrest, Akhter provided false information to the police, claiming he had not been in contact with her for weeks and did not have her phone number.
He also set fire to personal evidence in an empty field and attempted to destroy clothing, his rucksack, and a mobile device used in his harassment.
The judge described his conduct as a "deliberate execution" and sentenced him to serve a minimum of 20 years in prison.
Asha, a student at Highdown School, was remembered by her family as a "loving" and "beautiful" young woman.
The case attracted attention for its brutality and Akhter's apparent lack of remorse.
The court characterized the murder as "pure evil" and emphasized that justice was ultimately achieved after an extended trial.
