GRZEGORZ SULIGA, BLACKBURN OFFENDER, PLEADS GUILTY TO INDECENT EXPOSURE AND SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING A HORSE

In June 2015, Grzegorz Suliga, a 42-year-old man originally from Poland and living on Worcester Road, Blackburn, admitted to exposing himself indecently in front of an off-duty policewoman and also confessed to previous offenses involving a horse.

The incident involving indecent exposure occurred when Suliga confronted a police officer walking her dog near the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, between Rishton and Church. She recounted that as she approached, she had to do a double-take when she saw Suliga run towards her with his genitals hanging over his waistband of his tracksuit bottoms. The officer, who was off-duty at the time, described the moment: "As she got to the bottom of the dip she heard someone running towards her from behind. She looked round to see the defendant coming quite quickly towards her and she stopped to let him pass. She noticed as he jogged towards her that his genitals were hanging out over the waistband of his clothing." She instinctively turned away and questioned whether she had actually seen what she thought she saw.

According to the court, Suliga then ran ahead, slowed down, and turned back to face the officer directly, making eye contact. The prosecutor, Catherine Allan, stated, "When she looked back she saw his genitals were definitely hanging over his waistband and he was staring straight at her. She decided to phone her husband, who is also a police officer, and a few minutes later he was arrested after a chase."

Suliga pleaded guilty to the charge of indecent exposure and was remanded on bail while a pre-sentence report was prepared. His defence attorney, Jonathan Taylor, expressed that Suliga was "deeply remorseful" about his actions.

This incident is not Suliga's first offense involving bestiality. In 2012, he was convicted of having sexual intercourse with a horse after being caught abusing the animal in a field off Moss Lane, Oswaldtwistle. At that time, he admitted to the sexual penetration of a horse, was recorded feeding and affectionate towards horses beforehand, and was photographed by a witness. Following his arrest, Suliga was found sitting in the same field two weeks later, drinking beer with the horses around him. The police presented photographic evidence and launched an appeal through the Lancashire Telegraph to identify him.

During police interviews, Suliga claimed he had been intoxicated at the time and was unaware that such conduct was an offense in the UK, although he stated he knew it was illegal in Germany, where he previously resided. He was subsequently remanded and placed on the sex offenders' register for life. His initial court appearance was delayed as he was too embarrassed and ashamed to appear, but he eventually attended court proceedings.

Throughout these proceedings, Suliga maintained that he had no previous convictions in Poland or Germany, and his court representatives indicated remorse for his past actions and current charges.
