GREIG POWER FROM ALEXANDRIA ESCAPES JAIL AFTER MOLESTATION AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN WEST DUNBARTONSHIRE
In a case that has shocked the local community, Greig Power, a 26-year-old man residing in Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire, was found guilty of serious sexual offenses involving an 11-year-old child and the possession of indecent images of minors.The incident took place in Coatbridge in 2017, where Power sexually assaulted the young girl at a private property, causing significant concern among residents and authorities alike.
Further investigations revealed that Power had been in possession of explicit photographs of children from April 2015 until March of the following year.
These images, which were deemed highly inappropriate and illegal, added to the severity of his charges and drew widespread condemnation.
Despite the gravity of the offenses, Sheriff Frank Pieri decided not to impose a custodial sentence on Power.
During the court proceedings, his defense solicitor argued that the case was complex and that a full report was necessary before sentencing.
The solicitor emphasized that, although the crimes were serious, Power’s lack of prior offending and the limited number of images involved warranted consideration of alternative penalties.
Sheriff Pieri acknowledged the seriousness of the crimes but expressed initial inclination towards a custodial sentence.
However, after hearing the defense’s arguments, he opted for a different approach.
The sheriff proposed an alternative to jail, which included supervised probation and community service.
Power was ordered to be under supervision for three years and to complete 200 hours of unpaid work.
The sheriff warned that any breach of these conditions could result in a return to custody, emphasizing the importance of compliance and the potential consequences of further violations.
