GRANT PECKHAM SHOCKS DONINGTON AND SPILSBY WITH CHILD SEX OFFENSES AND IMAGES
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the communities of Donington and Spilsby, Grant Peckham, aged 38, has been sentenced to a four-year prison term after admitting to a series of serious criminal charges related to child exploitation and indecent images.The sentencing took place at Lincoln Crown Court, where Peckham faced the consequences of his actions following a police investigation that uncovered disturbing evidence against him.
Peckham's criminal activities spanned over a period from 2009 into early 2010.
He pleaded guilty to a total of 15 charges, which included five counts of creating indecent images of children, four counts of possessing such images, two counts of showing an indecent photograph to a minor, and two counts of taking indecent photographs of a child.
Additionally, he admitted to inciting a child to engage in sexual activity by offering a boy £50 for oral sex, and he faced a single charge of possessing indecent images with the intent to distribute.
The court was informed that the police investigation was initiated after authorities discovered evidence on Peckham’s personal devices.
These included a laptop computer and a mobile phone, both of which contained indecent images.
Further evidence was found on CD-ROMs stored in his jacket, indicating a deliberate collection and potential distribution of such material.
At the time of his arrest, Peckham was residing on High Street in Spilsby, but he was previously known as a resident of Donington.
As part of his sentencing, he was also subjected to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order, which restricts his activities and access to children.
Moreover, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, a measure designed to monitor and prevent further offenses.
Judge Michael Heath, presiding over the case, delivered a stern warning to Peckham during the sentencing.
He stated, “You are upon your own admission sexually attracted to young boys,” highlighting the gravity of the crimes and the risk posed to the community.
In mitigation, the court was informed that Peckham had no prior criminal record and had been living under a curfew since his initial arrest in January 2010, suggesting some level of compliance and remorse.
However, the severity of his offenses led to the four-year prison sentence and lifelong registration as a sex offender.
Lincolnshire Police issued a statement emphasizing the importance of their investigation.
They revealed that Peckham was identified through his mobile number by Northumbria Police as part of a nationwide operation targeting the possession of indecent images of children via mobile phones.
The investigation was launched in January 2010, culminating in the search of Peckham’s Donington residence, which uncovered the incriminating evidence that led to his conviction.
