GRAHAM AND SIMON LASKEY PONTYPRIDD SEX CRIME BROTHERS SENTENCED TO LIFE IN SOUTH WALES

In a harrowing case that spanned nearly two decades across South Wales, brothers Graham and Simon Laskey have been sentenced to life imprisonment for their extensive pattern of sexual offenses, including drugging, raping, and abusing women and even a baby. The case, which was heard at Swansea Crown Court, revealed the disturbing extent of their crimes and the brutal methods they employed to silence their victims.

Graham Laskey, aged 49, and Simon Laskey, aged 38, were found guilty of multiple counts of rape, sexual assault, and other serious sexual offenses. Graham received a total of ten life sentences, with the judge, Mr. Justice Burr, explicitly stating that he would not be eligible for parole for at least 12 and a half years. The court heard that Graham was convicted of five rapes and nine other serious sexual assaults involving five different women. Shockingly, he was also convicted of indecently assaulting the infant of one of his victims, a revelation that added to the horror of his crimes.

Simon Laskey was sentenced to six life terms, with convictions including five rapes and one serious sexual offense involving a woman and her baby. He will be required to serve a minimum of ten and a half years before being eligible for parole. During the five-week trial, the court was told that one of the victims, who had been suffering from fits since her assault, suffered another attack while giving evidence. As she was helped out of the witness box, both brothers Laskey laughed at her from the dock, displaying a chilling lack of remorse. Neither brother chose to testify in their own defense, and their refusal to answer questions was met with widespread condemnation.

The investigation, which lasted over two years and involved collecting more than 200 witness statements, uncovered that the brothers often drugged their victims with ground-up sleeping tablets before subjecting them to sexual assault. Their modus operandi involved targeting women who responded to lonely hearts advertisements, some of whom became girlfriends only to be later assaulted, beaten, and threatened. In some cases, women were tied up and held captive for days, enduring prolonged periods of violence and sexual abuse. Many of these assaults took place in a caravan in Quaker’s Yard near Pontypridd, where the abuse remained undetected until Graham Laskey sexually assaulted the teenage daughter of one of his victims.

Following this incident, the victim’s furious mother contacted the police, leading to the launch of Operation Narvik, a dedicated investigation aimed at capturing the brothers. Despite their convictions, police believe that not all victims have been identified, and the brothers continue to deny all charges, claiming that their victims conspired against them. During the sentencing, Simon Laskey refused to leave his cell to hear the judge’s verdict, while Graham Laskey, described as having a fat face and long sideburns, smiled throughout the proceedings. Victims and members of the public sat in the courtroom, gasping and cheering as Judge Burr repeatedly pronounced the word “life” in his sentencing remarks. As Graham Laskey was led away, he looked up at the victims, smiled, and shouted, “We’ll be back,” leaving a chilling reminder of the brutality they had inflicted.
