GRAHAM ROGERS FROM LLANGENNECH FACES ADDITIONAL CHARGES IN SWANSEA AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT ON FIVE-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In April 2018, a serious legal case unfolded at Swansea Crown Court involving Graham Harry John Rogers, a 63-year-old man from Tirgof, Llangennech. Rogers was scheduled to be sentenced on April 9 after admitting to the sexual assault of a young girl aged just five years old. The court proceedings revealed disturbing details about the nature of his crimes, which included not only the assault but also the creation and possession of indecent images of the child.During the hearing, it was disclosed that Rogers had taken photographs of the young girl in various states of undress, some of which showed him removing her underwear. These images were captured using a mobile phone, and police investigations uncovered that Rogers had also used a camera to take additional photographs. Some of these images had been transferred onto different devices, raising concerns about the extent of his collection and the methods he employed to store and possibly distribute these illicit images.
Prosecutor Kevin Jones informed the court that Rogers had admitted to creating eight indecent images classified as Category B and 28 images categorized as Category C. The court was told that the police had found these images during their investigation into the sexual assault complaint. Furthermore, authorities had discovered that Rogers was planning to be re-interviewed by police on the upcoming Friday, as they continued to examine the digital evidence found at his residence in Llangennech.
Mr. Jones requested additional time for the investigation, emphasizing that police needed to analyze the data from the cameras and other technological devices seized from Rogers’ home. He explained that the investigation was ongoing, and the authorities aimed to determine the full scope of Rogers’ offending behavior before proceeding with sentencing.
Judge Geraint Walters acknowledged the complexity of the case and ordered that probation officers prepare a comprehensive report on Rogers’ background. However, the judge emphasized that this report would only be compiled once the full extent of Rogers’ actions was understood. The court was informed that a further hearing would be held on April 20 to update all parties on the latest developments and to set a definitive sentencing date.
As the case continues to develop, the legal proceedings highlight the serious nature of the crimes committed by Graham Rogers in Llangennech, and the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to ensure justice is served for the young victim and to thoroughly investigate all aspects of the case.
