GRAHAM PARE FROM MANCHESTER SENTENCED TO NINE YEARS FOR CHILD RAPE IN CATTARICK
In a case that has shocked the local community of Catterick, North Yorkshire, Graham Pare, a 26-year-old man from Manchester, was sentenced to nine years in prison after being convicted of raping a child. The incident took place at Catterick Garrison, a well-known military installation, and the case was heard at Teesside Crown Court.According to court reports, Pare was found guilty following a retrial held last month. The court was told that the assault had a deeply damaging impact on the young victim, with Judge Peter Bowers expressing his concern over the lasting psychological scars inflicted. The judge remarked that the child's mental health had been profoundly affected and hoped that, with time and appropriate support, some of the emotional wounds might eventually begin to heal.
During the proceedings, it was revealed that Pare had initially appeared to admit to the crime on Facebook when challenged, but he later denied any involvement when arrested by authorities. Despite his denial, the jury found sufficient evidence to convict him of the heinous act.
In addition to his prison sentence, Judge Bowers ordered Pare to be registered on the sex offenders' register for life, a measure aimed at monitoring and preventing further offenses. The court also noted that Pare had a prior criminal record, including convictions for battery, one of which was against a former girlfriend, indicating a history of violent behavior.
Throughout the case, Pare’s legal representative, Jamie Hamilton, argued that there was no evidence of gratuitous violence or threats used to conceal the offense. However, the court’s focus remained on the severity of the crime and its impact on the young victim, leading to the substantial sentence handed down today.
