GRAHAM KEMP JAILED FOR SEX OFFENCES IN WHITSTABLE AND BEYOND

In a significant case that has shocked the community of Whitstable, Graham Kemp, a man in his seventies, has been sentenced to prison for serious sexual offences committed against two young victims spanning over a decade. Kemp, aged 71 and residing on Gosselin Street in Whitstable, was taken into custody in March 2016 after the victims courageously came forward to report their experiences to the police. The allegations against him involved disturbing acts of indecency that occurred during the late 1990s and early 2000s, with the most recent incident involving a young girl taking place between 2002 and 2004.

Following a thorough investigation, Kemp was brought to trial at Canterbury Crown Court. During the proceedings, he was found guilty of indecent assault on a young girl, a crime that took place over a two-year period from 2002 to 2004. Prior to the trial, Kemp had already admitted guilt to one count of indecent assault and one count of indecency with a child, relating to a second victim. These offences, which occurred in the late 1990s, had previously been unreported but were brought to light through the victims' testimonies and police inquiries.

On June 11, 2018, Kemp was handed a prison sentence of five years and three months. The sentence was the culmination of a trial that highlighted the severity of his actions and the impact on his victims. In addition to his incarceration, the court imposed a sexual harm prevention order that will restrict Kemp’s access to children and computers indefinitely. This order aims to prevent any further harm and to protect potential future victims from any contact with him.
