NORTH YORKSHIRE POLICE OFFICER DISMISSED AFTER OFF-DUTY ASSAULT ON BOY
A police officer from North Yorkshire has been dismissed after an off-duty incident involving a teenage boy in Richmond.
On July 14, PC Graeme Gale, who resides on Whitefields Drive in Richmond, was involved in an assault on a 14-year-old boy on Darlington Road.
The officer pulled the youth off a wall and tripped him, resulting in the teen falling and sustaining injuries, including scratches to his neck.
PC Gale pleaded guilty to the charges at Teesside Magistrates' Court on November 29 and received a sentence of a 12-month community order on December 17.
Additionally, he was ordered to pay a victims’ surcharge of £95 and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The public misconduct notice detailed the incident, noting that the officer used physical force, including dragging the boy and attempting leg sweeps and kicks.
A misconduct hearing held at North Yorkshire Police Headquarters on February 11 found the allegations to constitute gross misconduct, resulting in his immediate dismissal and his addition to the College of Policing Barred and Advisory list.
