GORDON GLASS FROM WESTERHOPE SENTENCED TO TWO YEARS FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE AND DAMAGE

Gordon Glass, a 43-year-old man with a long history of criminal activity, has been handed a two-year prison sentence following his conviction for a series of serious offenses involving his partner.

The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of controlling and coercive behavior, physical assault, and acts of criminal damage that took place primarily in Westerhope.

According to court records, Glass engaged in invasive monitoring of his partner’s social media accounts, demanding she send him photographs with timestamps to verify her whereabouts.

His behavior escalated to verbal abuse whenever she was slow to respond to his messages, creating an environment of constant intimidation and fear.

Between May and June of the previous year, he bombarded her with numerous texts and phone calls, to the point where she felt compelled to give him permission to track her phone, out of fear for her safety.

On June 12, the victim arranged to meet a friend and sent a photograph of her baby.

This seemingly innocent act enraged Glass, who questioned the age of the child and became involved in a heated argument.

His obsession with her communications persisted, as he repeatedly demanded to know who she was messaging and read her private messages without consent.

The situation worsened on June 21, when he became furious after she deleted some messages.

He threatened to come to her home, and when he arrived, he shouted at her, called her a liar, and attempted to crawl through her window in a display of aggressive intrusion.

The incident took a more dangerous turn when Glass forced her to drive to a McDonald's.

During an argument inside the vehicle, he tried to take control of her car by grabbing the steering wheel and pulling the handbrake.

Fortunately, a police officer passing by intervened and stopped his actions.

The woman described the entire ordeal as terrifying, stating that she felt her life was in imminent danger that night.

Glass’s criminal record includes multiple previous convictions, and he admitted to the charges of controlling behavior, assault, and criminal damage during the court proceedings.

The judge sentenced him to two years in prison and issued a restraining order to protect the victim from further contact.

His legal representative expressed remorse on his behalf, claiming that he is seeking rehabilitation.

Glass has been remanded in custody for six months pending further proceedings.

The victim, who wished to remain anonymous, shared her ongoing trauma, emphasizing that her mental health has been severely impacted by his actions.

She stated that the effects of his abuse will linger and that her life has been permanently altered by the ordeal in Westerhope.
