ELGIN MAN, 61, IN COURT FOR THREATENING WIFE AND NEIGHBOR AFTER DRUNKEN OUTBURST
A Moray man named Gordon Dunbar, aged 61, was involved in a case reported at Elgin Sheriff Court for threatening and abusive behavior.Dunbar told his wife during a drunken argument that he might kill her pet dog and used vile language, including calling her a “slut” and a “whore.” His behavior was overheard by neighbors, and when a concerned lady came to check on the disturbance, he retaliated by throwing a glass vase at her.
According to Fiscal depute Emily Hood, Dunbar’s alcohol consumption led to this aggressive outburst where he threatened to harm his wife’s pet dog and expressed intentions to smash their television, which he claimed he paid for.
His defense advocate, Matthew O’Neill, explained that Dunbar’s actions were influenced by ongoing health issues and poor management of his prescribed medication, which he replaced with alcohol, leading to frustration.
Dunbar subsequently apologized to both his wife and neighbors, acknowledging his misconduct.
The court ordered him to remain under social supervision for two years and to complete the Moray Domestic Violence rehabilitation program.
He admitted to two charges of threatening or abusive behavior related to his wife and a neighbor.
