GORDON CROSFIELD FROM SLAITHWAITE SENTENCED AFTER DISCOVERY OF OVER 1000 INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN AND ANIMALS IN LEEDS

In a case that has shocked the local community of Slaithwaite, a man named Gordon Crosfield has been handed a community order following the discovery of a disturbing collection of indecent images and videos involving children and animals.

The incident came to light after West Yorkshire police conducted a search of Crosfield’s residence in Market Place, Slaithwaite, in May of the previous year, based on intelligence suggesting that an IP address associated with his home was being used to download such illicit material.

During the investigation, law enforcement officers seized a variety of electronic devices, including laptops, memory cards, and a mobile phone, which were subsequently examined for evidence.

The forensic analysis revealed a staggering total of over 1,100 indecent images and videos, some depicting children as young as four years old.

The material was categorized into different levels of severity: 91 still images and 324 videos classified as Category A, indicating the most serious content; 120 still images and 162 videos falling under Category B; and 445 still images along with 65 videos categorized as Category C.

In addition to the images involving minors, authorities uncovered 30 extreme pornographic images featuring animals, highlighting the disturbing nature of the material found on Crosfield’s devices.

During questioning, Crosfield claimed that the images involving young children appeared unintentionally while he was searching for content related to older teenagers.

He denied deriving any sexual gratification from the material involving minors.

Representing Crosfield, solicitor Mathew Harding acknowledged the gravity of the charges and indicated that the probation service believed they could work with him to address his issues.

Harding also pointed out that Crosfield’s wife, who had previously appeared in court in a wheelchair, was dependent on him and would be adversely affected if he were to be imprisoned.

At Leeds Crown Court, 60-year-old Crosfield pleaded guilty to four charges of making indecent images and one charge of possessing extreme pornography.

The judge, His Honour Judge James Spencer QC, sentenced him to a three-year community order, which includes a requirement to participate in 60 days of activity, specifically attending a sex offender treatment programme.

Judge Spencer remarked that Crosfield had been told he had learned the error of his ways, emphasizing the seriousness of his actions and the importance of rehabilitation.
