HUDDERSFIELD MAN HANDED COMMUNITY ORDER FOR BREACHING SAFETY ORDER AFTER STALKING EX
Gareth Price, aged 40, repeatedly showed up at the same places as his former partner, who had grabbed a non-molestation order against him.
Despite the court order banning him from contact, Price followed her in his van, parked near her, and tried to speak to her when she was in shops, causing her to panic.
She drove to various locations including Netherend Road and Leeds Road Retail Park, where she encountered Price, who told her, “Get me arrested – I just want to talk to you,” and “I'll always love you.
I just want to be with you.” Staff at the Odeon cinema helped her when she ran there for safety.
She was distressed, suffering from stress and sleep issues since the incident.
Price was arrested four times but faced no further action apart from a conviction for breaching the non-molestation order.
Magistrates sentenced him to a community order with 20 rehabilitation activity days, and he was ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £90 victim surcharge.
The judge noted that the only standing allegation was the breach of the non-molestation order, and that Price’s life had been significantly affected by the false allegations made against him.
