Bazely, of Drayton Road in Norwich, spoke only to confirm his name, age and address and did not enter pleas to attempting to incite a child into engaging in sexual activity and attempted sexual communication with a child.
He is next due to appear at Norwich Crown Court on February 24.
The charges include accusations that he exchanged messages with what he believed to be two separate young teenage girls between February 27 and March 11 last year.
He believed he was chatting with a 13-year-old girl, but it was actually a decoy account set up by adults to catch online child sex offenders.
