GERAINT BERRY SENTENCED TO 19 YEARS FOR CONSPIRACY TO MURDER
A wife and her lover, former soldier Geraint Berry, have each been sentenced to 19 years in prison for plotting to murder her husband, Christopher Mills.
The plan involved staged gas poisoning and fake suicide notes, with Berry leading the execution.
Berry was described as a fantasist who claimed to have killed thousands as a Royal Marine sniper, but denied any intention to kill Mr Mills, insisting it was only a fantasy.
Despite his denials, he was convicted of conspiracy to murder and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear.
The judge highlighted the chilling nature of the plot, which was only thwarted by Mr Mills' courage in fighting off his attackers.
Berry was sentenced to 19 years, with two-thirds to be served in custody before release on licence.
