WARRANT ISSUED FOR HENLEY MAN WHO SKIPPED COURT AFTER VIOLENT ABUSE INCIDENT
George Morgan was issued an arrest warrant after he failed to attend Oxford Crown Court to face charges related to breaching a suspended sentence.The 33-year-old had previously been sentenced in March by Recorder John Hardy QC to 12 months in prison, which was suspended for a year, after spending several months in custody on remand.
Morgan was accused of breaching the terms of his suspended sentence by not maintaining contact with the probation service and failing to attend court.
Despite receiving a letter informing him of the court date, he did not show up, leading Judge Nigel Daly to issue a warrant for his arrest.
His barrister, Kellie Enever, explained that attempts to contact Morgan had been unsuccessful.
The case involved an incident where Morgan left his partner with a fractured cheekbone during a violent outburst following a laughing gas binge.
Morgan denied causing grievous bodily harm with intent but pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of wounding, claiming it was in self-defense after being bitten.
