FORRES MAN GUILTY OF ONLINE SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST DECOY
A 55-year-old man from Forres engaged in online sexual misconduct involving a girl he believed to be 13 years old, but who was actually an undercover operative from the Child Online Safety Team.
Between June 28 and July 1, 2025, George Long communicated via WhatsApp, during which he made sexual remarks and sent explicit images.
He also requested a video call and asked for pictures of the decoy in a swimsuit, sending highly sexualized messages that included comments about her appearance.
Long recorded a video call in which he exposed his genitals and performed an intimate act, although his face was not visible in the footage.
Police officers apprehended him at his residence on Stuart Street, Forres, and he admitted to charges of attempting to induce a child to view a sexual image and attempting to communicate indecently with a minor.
His sentencing was postponed until September 1 to allow for background reports, and he will be registered on the Sex Offenders' Register in the interim.
