FORRES MAN WITH 11 YEARS OF DOMESTIC ABUSE CONVICTIONS TOLD: ‘THIS HAS TO STOP’
Benjamin Smith has been warned prison will be the next punishment if he doesn't stop attacking his partners.
Benjamin Smith, aged 31, was in court at Elgin Sheriff Court last week to be sentenced for assaulting an ex-partner.
He admitted to seizing a baby bottle from his girlfriend’s hands while she was holding their child and launching it at a picture frame, causing it to fall and smash.
On August 9, during the incident, Smith's ex dialed 999 after he threw the baby bottle against the wall with force.
Police discovered cannabis on him, worth about £80.
Despite his ex being against a non-harassment order, consideration was continued.
Smith has previous convictions for domestic abuse, including assaulting a pregnant partner and repeatedly punching her.
Sheriff David Harvie warned Smith that his behavior has to stop and offered the chance to complete the Caledonian Programme, with a supervision order of 18 months and 300 hours of unpaid work as an alternative to jail.
If he offends again, jail is inevitable.
